AdSpyTracker: a superb tool

Arquivado em: Uncategorized

A couple days ago I was invited by Matt Callen, from AdSpyTracker, to write a short testimonial about the superb script I bought from him in December. I enjoyed the idea so much that I decided to use the inspiration and write a more detailed review here, in case there is someone that can benefit from what I have to say.

In few words, AdSpyTracker is the way to find those informations Google loves to hide from you, if you are an AdSense publisher. For example, with it you can track exactly where a visitor came from, which keywords lead him to your page, how was the ad he clicked — dimensions, colors — and where he did go to, after clicking. Yes, now you have a way to know which ads are being clicked, and when!

Using the script is a breeze. Since the installation, very easy if you know how to manage a mysql database, until the tracking code, a very small piece of JavaScript that you have to place after the last ad in your page. I, on my turn, place it directly to the “footer” template, straight in the blog template.

I could write pages and pages about the screens and the reports, but this is not as important as what they really tell you. And I am going to tell you my story, and how AdSpyTracker helped me to earn more money by investing on writing better articles about what readers really look for in my sites.

First, I must say that I have this blog (and its original version, in Portuguese) that is about just everything and nothing in special. Every guru you read will, certainly, tell you to choose a niche to write about, that if you want to make serious money online you can’t spend time in generalist sites. Thanks God I didn’t listen to them, and had the patience to wait until my blog had a good flow of visitors. And you can abbreviate this time, if you invest some money in one of those systems that bring visitor to your site (just like AdWords).

When I installed AdSpyTracker and saw its very first reports, I got awesomely surprised: I had no idea what readers were actually looking for, when they arrived my site. Instead of reading about Linux and all the superiority of Open Source, what was bringing lots and lots of users to my website was a single keyword that had nothing to do with computers: “sibutramine”. Just in case you don’t know what it is, think of a medication that mess with your brain and makes it think that you are not really hungry. It is not an anphetamine, the effects are different, but they serve to the same purpose: help those who want to lose weight.

So, what did I do, when I realized that there are lots of people wanting to read about “sibutramine”, and all of them were benefiting from an article I wrote when I tried myself to lose weight? Well, I created a new blog, because I had discovered a new niche!

That’s what you are supposed to do, too. Read your AdSpyTracker keyword reports, and discover what you are not doing yet, but could.

But you can go beyond, as I went. You have the possibility to know exactly how every clicked ad was: dimensions and colors, and channel if you use them. That lead me to another very fine surprise: different of what I thought, the only ad formats that work for me (that get clicks, I mean) are 336×280 and 160×600. Every other format is just… wasting time! With this information I was able to change my templates, and put on them the ad formats that really bring me some money, and in less than two weeks I had an increase of 350% on my earnings.

All of this could be great enough. But AdSpyTracker is bringing me more money, beside the above optimizations! Do you remember that I told you that AdSpyTracker reveals the URL where your visitors go to after clicking an ad? Well, I’ve collected a lot of them, and now I’m in frank process of contacting each of them, in order to offer customized, direct advertisement plans. Of course I could have collected the URLs that appear on the ads, but if I know what advertisers have already benefited from my site, my chances are pretty bigger, don’t you think?

Last, but not least, I also make some money when someone clicks one of the affiliate links (like in AdSpyTracker) and buys a license. The commissions are generous, and make me very happy! The even best part is: when you buy AdSpyTracker, you take part of the affiliate program, and begins to earn very nice commissions too.

That’s enough talking. Now, do a favor to yourself, and buy your very own AdSpyTracker, and discover all the wealth that has been hidden just under your nose for all that long.
